Food and Nutrition

At Ellie’s Nursery we are committed to providing healthy, balanced meals and have always seen mealtimes as a big social and learning opportunity. We support and teach children the importance of oral health and how to stay fit and healthy! Being supported by the EYN Partnership reviewing and advising on our healthy delicious menus for our children and staff. Food comes up very quickly in conversations with prospective parents. Gaining the accreditation and working directly with a nutritionist gives great reassurance to the team who now feel more confident in discussing food-related issues including Allergies and Intolerances. The Nursery also has a vegetable patch our wonderful chef often takes time out of the kitchen to explore the vegetable patch with the children. Our experienced staff team work with the children to plan what vegetables they would like to grow. This is a fantastic way to help children learn about the life cycle of plants. Children learn best through active learning and our vegetable patch is a fantastic learning opportunity for children to understand where food comes from.

Our Onsite Nursery Chef prepares all meals from scratch to ensure no added salts, sugars and preservatives are in our healthy meals. This also supports allergies, intolerances, Cultural and religious requirements we may have.
